Die aktualisierte FAQ und die Pressemitteilung haben es bereits vermuten lassen: Die Guild Wars - Beta wird anders ablaufen, als wir es bisher von MMORPGs gewohnt sind. Gaile Gray hat dies mit einem Post in einem amerikanischen Forum klargestellt. Sie äußerte sich folgendermaßen:<br />

As mentioned above, there will be no signups or beta test selections or random drawings or haves and have nots. If you purchase the pre-sale product, you will be able to participate in every beta testing weekend until Guild Wars is released. <br />

Das heißt zu deutsch: Es wird keine Betanmeldungen oder -Auswahlverfahren geben. Wer Guild Wars vorbestellt, wird an der Beta teilnehmen dürfen. Diese Beta findet aber nur zum jeweils ersten Wochenende im Monat statt. Die einzigen, die öfter zocken dürfen, sind die bisherigen Alpha-Tester. Sie bleiben wie bisher in den Entwicklungsprozess integriert. Am vom 29. bis zum 31. Oktober stattfindenden World Preview Event kann jedoch jeder teilnehmen, egal, ob er Guild Wars vorbestellt hat oder nicht.<br />

Weiterhin hat Gaile Gray sich im Guild Hall - Forum genauer über den Ablauf dieser Vorbestellung geäußert; der Besteller bekommt tatsächlich etwas Reales zugeschickt, nicht nur einen Code per e-mail:<br />
